Nervous patients
Dental anxiety is common, and helping nervous patients is part of daily life in our practices, not an inconvenience. Tell us how you feel and we’ll adapt your appointment: we explain each step before it happens, go at your pace, and you can pause at any point by raising a hand. Sedation is also available for some procedures.
What to expect at your first visit
-
Tell us how you feel
Let us know when you book, or when you arrive, if you’re anxious. You don’t need to explain more than you want to.
-
We adapt the appointment to you
Your dentist explains each step before it happens and checks in with you throughout, at a pace you’re comfortable with.
-
You stay in control
Nothing happens without you saying you’re ready. You can pause at any point, just raise a hand.
-
Aftercare that keeps you at ease
We talk through what to expect afterwards, and you can call the practice during opening hours if something doesn’t feel right.
How we help
You go at your own pace
Nervous or anxious about visiting the dentist? You’re far from alone: helping nervous patients is part of daily life in our practices. We’ll make sure you feel comfortable at every stage, and we won’t rush you.
Sedation, when it’s the right option
For some procedures, dental implant surgery among them, we offer safe, effective sedation for particularly nervous patients, taken by mouth or given by injection, as a lighter alternative to a general anaesthetic. Whether it’s suitable for you is discussed at your consultation.
Ready when you are
There’s no pressure to book anything today. When you’re ready, our team can talk you through what a first visit looks like before you commit to anything.
Talk to us firstWhat our patients say

Frequently asked questions
Before your visit
I get anxious about the dentist. Will you understand?
Yes. Dental anxiety is very common, and we’ve worked with many patients who are nervous about visiting us. We’ll make sure you feel comfortable and at ease at every practice, and we’re with you every step of the way.
Do you offer sedation for nervous patients?
For some procedures, such as dental implant surgery, we can offer sedation given orally or by injection, as a calmer alternative to a general anaesthetic. Your dentist will discuss whether it’s a suitable option for your treatment at consultation.
On the day
What if I need to stop partway through?
You can ask us to pause or stop at any point during an appointment, and we’ll never continue without your agreement. Making sure you can make an informed decision, at your own pace, is part of how we look after every patient.
Are quiet appointments available?
We’re checking with each practice whether specific quiet-appointment slots or timing options are available. Ask your practice when you call and we’ll accommodate what we can in the meantime.
